Some adventures are carefully planned. Others begin with a single conversation, a leap of faith, and saying “yes” to the unexpected.
Ours began with marketing in New York, a chance meeting, a move to the Florida Keys… and eventually a little company called Captain Crazy’s.
A New York Start
Before life on the water, I spent years building a career in marketing in the New York City area, helping businesses connect with customers and tell their stories. Those years taught me that every successful business has something in common—a story worth sharing and people who genuinely care about their customers.
Those lessons have stayed with me throughout every chapter of our lives.

New York will always have a special place in our hearts. It’s where one chapter of our story began—and where many of the lessons that still shape our business today were learned.
Life in the Florida Keys
Then life took an unexpected turn.
After meeting Chris, the adventure moved south to the Florida Keys. We were married there and launched SeaSquared Charters, a multi-vessel fishing charter business that we owned and operated for 17 unforgettable years.
Long before that, Chris had spent more than 20 years fishing the waters off the Jersey Shore, so life on the water came naturally.
For nearly two decades, we welcomed families from around the world aboard our boats. Some came hoping to catch the fish of a lifetime. Others simply wanted a memorable day together on the water.
Along the way, we discovered that our real business wasn’t just fishing.
It was creating experiences.
Building relationships. Exceeding expectations. Treating every customer like family. Those became the foundation of everything we do.
A New Adventure
When we sold our charter business in 2021 and relocated to beautiful Lake County, Florida, we knew another adventure was waiting.
What started as a hobby roasting nuts for family and friends quickly became something much bigger.
We weren’t satisfied with the nuts we found on store shelves. Some lacked flavor. Others relied on heavy coatings that hid the quality of the nuts themselves. We believed there was a better way.
So we got to work.
Small batches turned into countless recipes.
Countless recipes turned into family favorites.
Before long, Captain Crazy’s Nuts & Fine Snacks was born.
Today, we’re proud to handcraft our signature roasted nuts and snack mixes right here in Lake County, Florida, using premium ingredients and the same attention to quality that started in our own kitchen.

Today, every sunset reminds us how fortunate we are to still be building adventures together.
The Snack Shack is Born
As our business grew, so did our appreciation for the incredible makers we met along the way.
Family-owned jerky companies.
Artisan hot sauce makers.
Small-batch spice blenders.
Candy makers.
Cheese makers.
People who care just as deeply about quality as we do.
That’s when an idea began to take shape.
What if there was one place where snack lovers could discover these amazing products while also supporting the small businesses behind them?
That idea became Captain Crazy’s Snack Shack.
While our handcrafted products remain at the heart of what we do, the Snack Shack allows us to share carefully selected products from artisan makers across America—brands we’ve researched, products we’ve tasted, and snacks we’d proudly serve at our own table.
In many ways, we’re still doing what we’ve always loved.
We’re introducing people to something memorable.
Whether it was an unforgettable day on the water or helping someone discover their new favorite snack, our goal has always been the same:
Create experiences worth sharing.
Thank you for being part of this journey and for supporting not only our family business, but also the many passionate makers whose products now fill the shelves of the Snack Shack.
We’re just getting started.
Happy Snacking,
Christy & Chris Johnson
